On the Move

home sweet home key

Guess what? We have moved. Again. The past two weeks have been very stressful and busy (like on a whole new level, y’all), but we have made it to the end. We will make one more load from the old apartment today, turn in our keys, and happily close that chapter of our lives. It was good times, but there are better times ahead, I am sure of it. Below are some snapshots from our moving experience. Expect to see {Read More}

Raven Rocking & Rolling

Y’all. Life has been so awesome lately. And so busy. So awesome and busy that finding time to tell you about it is like trying to find my black Havaianas at the bottom of my shoe pile in the closet. Translation: hard. Work has been incredible, and has quickly become a top priority (behind sleeping and hanging out with Shelton, of course). << Keep scrolling if you want to forego the life update and look at pictures from our trip to {Read More}

Saturday Adventures

Saturday Adventures | sweetandsavorylife.com

This past Saturday Shelton and I piddled around town and I took my camera. It had been a while since we got some shots of downtown Greenville (or as the city calls it, “Uptown”), and it’s definitely an interesting area. You can tell at one point it was very active, but unfortunately that is not the case these days. Of course, this means there are tons of murals that have become worn over time and also some generally weird stuff {Read More}

Remembering 2012: Turning Twenty-Fabulous

DSC_0005 (2) copy

When I woke up on September 28, 2012, I thought it was just going to be another birthday. Shelton and I had some fun things planned for the evening, but for the most part I assumed it’d be like any other Friday. A little work, a little play, a sweet card… you know, the usual. He had already surprised me with my Nikon D5100 a couple weeks back, so I didn’t think there was anything else planned. Well, I was {Read More}

Remembering 2012: Hello, Raleigh

DSCF0496

A few weeks after I moved to North Carolina, Shelton and I made our first trip to Raleigh. It was such a fun trip–one that I’ll never forget. Exploring a new capital city that we’re now so close to was very exciting. Raleigh has a beat of its own, and I found the downtown area very open, very pedestrian-friendly, and cozy. There are lots of independent shops and interesting eateries… I can’t wait to go back! (P.S. All of these pictures {Read More}

Shredded Beef Tacos

Sarah: We’re big fans of tacos ’round these parts. Sometimes I think that “Mexican” restaurants here in NC have no idea what a corn tortilla is, and I often miss the delicious tacos that were so convenient in Texas. It’s the little things, I swear. When Shelton got a hankering a few weeks back, there was only one thing to do… Make them ourselves! Shelton: Shelton here piggybacking on Sarah! I couldn’t agree with her more, we have yet to {Read More}

Remembering 2012: Pitt County Fair

DSC_0010 copy - Copy

Confession: I have never been to a full blown state fair. That’s pretty sad to admit, because I come from Texas… a land that is known (among many things) for it’s annual state fair full of fried foods and Big Tex (RIP, bro). It turns out that North Carolina has a decent state fair also, but time slipped away from us and we weren’t able to attend. BUT we did get to go to the county fair here in Greenville {Read More}

Birds On A Wire: Thanksgiving 2012

DSC_0130 copy

This Thanksgiving was incredibly special for me. Mom and Janie traveled all the way from Texas to visit us in North Carolina, and we had a proper family Thanksgiving dinner in Fuquay-Varina (outside of Raleigh). There were so many great memories made, and I’m reminded to be thankful every day (not just one day out of the year) for all the gifts I have been given. Here are some of my favorite shots from the past week. I hope your {Read More}

Drifting away like the leaves in the fall…

DSC_0013

You know you got that Deana Carter reference. I am still learning so much about photography. Specifically, what I like, what I feel like I’m good at, and everything in between. It’s such a fun journey–one that I never expected to go on. At least not at this rate, but I am so thankful to have such an amazing tool to capture life with. And even though I am still very much an amateur, it’s a fun process. In Texas {Read More}
